Writing a blog can be alot harder than you think. Read through some of thse guidelines provided to help you write not only informative but entertaining blogs.
Writing blogs is probably one of the best ways to advertise your business for free. No matter the type of business you engage in, blogs can greatly help increase awareness with potential customers in two specific ways.
- If your blog is run directly off your site then it shows a high level of activity to major search engines and helps improve your ranking.
- It provides you the opportunity to write quality articles on blog on different sites relating to your webpage and provide the chance to back link to specific pages on your site.
Quality over quantity: When writing your blogs you must ensure that you write a quality article over a long winded and drawn out one. A great way to look at it is, think of an instruction manual. When going through an instruction manual you only ever look for the chapter that pertains to you. You don’t read the entire book. When reading an instruction manual you also want one that’s easily set out and each instruction numbered, both specific and concise to that task. This is where quality over quantity comes into effect. A quality blog only needs between 200 and 300 words.
Be enthusiastic: Also ensure it’s something your enthusiastic about. People can tell how much you enjoy a particular subject or product just by the way your write about it. The opposite end to the coin is not to overdo it. Wondering how you can overdo an article? Imagine your searching the internet for a specific item. You click on a web site which lists that item, you get there and all you find is how great that item is. There’s no details on the product itself, how durable the item is, spec’s of the item or price. The website has provided no relevant information what’s so ever.
Use bold headings: Headings are like your index. When people go to a blog they tend to scroll through the page before reading from the top. Providing bold but short headings can help a person look for a specific part of your blog which is of interest. A great example of headings is a local newspaper or magazine.
Use keyword specific words: Your blog should use keywords which just like your website help people find it on the internet. A great way to do this is to try and use the same keywords you have your main site if linking back to one.
Create backlinks: If possible link back to as many pages us possible on your main website. If your internet marketer with a website with multiple pages pertaining to different products, link your blog back to them. A good example is this site. I will take an article or product which is listed on this site and write a brief article on it and then link back to that page on this site. I would then take that blog and re write it 3 more times and once again link it back to the same page. What this has done is allowed me to back link separate articles from high ranking websites directly back to my website which once again will help improve my ranking.
Use bullets: Indenting or using bullet points for important aspects of your blog is so much more enjoyable to read than one huge blog, it also makes scanning the blog a lot easier for the reader.
Don’t babble: I can’t stress this enough, don’t start straying from your main topic.
